What drew my eye today was this photo of Detroit in 1917. I've read two articles in as many days about the demise of Detroit, and as I used to live close by I saw a little of that downward trend myself. In fact the last time I drove through I was overwhelmed by the emptiness and abandoned buildings - a modern ghost town from the golden days of the industrial frontier.
